Thirsty for the Wrong Wells

John 4:13-14 :”Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst.”

Jesus says this to a woman who had been married five times and was living with a sixth man. She had gone back to the well of human relationship again and again, looking for something that kept leaving her empty. She was not a bad woman. She was a thirsty one …. reaching for what was available rather than what was sufficient.

We recognize her more than we admit.
We go back to the same wells ….approval, achievement, romance, substances, distraction ….not because we are foolish but because the thirst is real and those wells are close. They give something. Just never enough. And always temporarily.

Jesus offers water with a different chemistry entirely. Not a feeling that fades by morning. Not a satisfaction that requires constant refilling. Something that becomes, He says, a well inside you ….. springing up, self-sustaining, alive.
The question is not whether you are thirsty. The question is which well you are walking toward.
Choose the one that actually satisfies.
