Romans 8:38-39 : “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God.”
Paul builds the list carefully … as if anticipating every argument your fear might raise. Death? No. Life? No. Angels, powers, things happening right now, things coming in the future? No, no, no, and no. Height …the highest you could climb … and depth … the lowest you could fall?
Still no.
Nothing in the created order can sever what God has joined. The love of God in Christ is not a conditional arrangement that requires your consistent performance to remain in effect. It is not a contract that expires when you fail. It is not a feeling that fluctuates with your spiritual temperature.
It is a bond that the entire universe cannot break.
This matters most not when life is good but when the evidence seems to argue against it. When you feel abandoned, distant, unworthy, forgotten. When the circumstances of your life look nothing like the life of someone who is loved by God.
Paul wrote this from prison. He was persuaded anyway.
You are not separated from that love. Not by what you have done, not by what has been done to you, not by what is coming that you cannot yet see.
Nothing. Not one thing.
