Luke 16:10 : “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”
The audition for greater responsibility is always happening in the current assignment. How you handle the small thing reveals … to God, to others, and to yourself …what you will do with the large thing. The character is consistent. The faithfulness that shows up in obscurity is the same faithfulness that shows up in prominence.
This means the season of small things is never a waste. It is a formation.
The mistake we make is waiting for the important assignment before we become the kind of person the important assignment requires. We treat our current role as a placeholder … something to endure on the way to what actually matters. And in doing so, we fail the very test that would qualify us for the next thing.
Every small act of faithfulness is practice. Every quiet commitment kept when no one is watching. Every task done with excellence when the stakes appear low. Every promise honored when breaking it would have been easy.
God notices the small. The small is where the character is built.
Be faithful here. The much comes to those who were faithful with the least.
