Mark 10:29-30 : “There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time.”
Jesus makes a promise that is both staggering and honest. Staggering because it is a hundredfold return ….pressed down, shaken together, running over. Honest because He adds: with persecutions.
The full life of following Jesus includes both the abundance and the difficulty. He does not promise one without the other. What He promises is that nothing surrendered for the sake of the gospel is surrendered permanently …. it comes back, multiplied, in this life and in the life to come.
What have you laid down for the Kingdom? A career that could have gone further but you chose integrity instead. A relationship you walked away from because it was pulling you from God. Resources given away when the account could not easily spare them. Time, energy, ambition placed at His feet.
Heaven has a ledger and nothing is lost from it. The hundredfold return may not arrive in the same form as what was given … but it arrives. In community, in provision, in joy, in peace that cannot be purchased.
You have not lost what you gave to God. You have invested it in the only economy that never collapses.
