Isaiah 30:15 : “For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.”
The people God was speaking to wanted to run to Egypt. They wanted horses and military alliances and visible, tangible, human-made solutions to their crisis. They wanted the kind of strength you can count and deploy and see.
God offered them something they did not want: quietness.
We are deeply uncomfortable with quietness in a crisis. Noise feels like action. Activity feels like faith. To be still when everything is threatening feels like surrender .. but God says here that it is the source of strength, not the absence of it.
Returning … to God, to the center, to the relationship that was drifting. Rest ..not laziness but the active trust that releases the burden into better hands than yours. Quietness … the soul that is not driven by the noise of the situation. Confidence …. not in your own resources but in His.
This combination …. returning, resting, quieting, trusting ….is strength in the form the world does not recognize. It does not look impressive. It does not make headlines. But it holds when the horses of Egypt have long since failed.
Come back. Be still. Let God be your strength today.
