The Beginning of Everything

Proverbs 1:7:
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Everything in Proverbs stands on this one hinge. Before we talk about money, relationships, work, or words, we have to talk about posture …. the posture of the heart before God. “Fear of the LORD” isn’t cowering; it’s the awe of a creature who finally sees how big God is and how small it is by comparison. That awe is where real learning starts, because it strips away the illusion that we already have it figured out.
A fool, in Proverbs, isn’t someone with a low IQ. It’s someone who has decided they don’t need correction. Today, ask yourself where you’ve quietly stopped being teachable …. in your faith, your marriage, your job. Wisdom begins the moment you’re willing to be corrected again.

Prayer: Lord, give me a heart that fears You more than it fears looking foolish or being wrong. Make me teachable again. Amen.
