A City Without Walls

Proverbs 25:28:
“He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.”

A city without walls in the ancient world was defenseless …open to any invader, any raid, any disaster. Solomon says a person without self-control is exactly that vulnerable. Self-control isn’t restriction for its own sake; it’s the wall that protects everything else you’re building.
Where are your walls down right now … with your temper, your appetite, your spending, your tongue? Rebuilding self-control in one area often strengthens your defenses everywhere else.

Prayer: Lord, rebuild the broken walls in my life. Give me rule over my own spirit today. Amen.
