Proverbs 9:10:
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
This echoes chapter 1, and repetition in Scripture is never accidental …it’s emphasis. By chapter 9, Solomon has laid out two feasts: Wisdom’s table and Folly’s table, both calling out to the same simple passerby. Before choosing which table to sit at, the deciding factor is the same one from the start: does this person fear the Lord?
Notice “the knowledge of the holy” is understanding …not information about holiness, but real relational knowledge of a holy God. That’s the difference between knowing facts about God and actually knowing Him.
Prayer: Father, let the fear of You be the beginning of every choice I make today, not an afterthought. Amen.
