Proverbs 28:13:
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
Two paths, two outcomes. Covering sin … hiding, minimizing, pretending … seems safer in the moment, but it blocks the very mercy that’s available on the other path. Confession feels riskier and more exposing, yet it’s the doorway to actual mercy and change.
Notice it’s not just confession alone … it’s confession and forsaking. Admitting something without any intention to change isn’t the full picture here. What’s something you’ve been covering that needs both honesty and a decision to walk away from it?
Prayer: Father, I don’t want to cover what I need to confess. Give me courage to bring it into the light and forsake it. Amen.
