A Prayer for Enough

Proverbs 30:8:
“Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food that is convenient for me.”

Agur’s prayer here is refreshingly honest …. he doesn’t ask for wealth, and he doesn’t romanticize poverty either. He asks for enough: contentment, sufficiency, freedom from both the temptation of excess and the desperation of lack.
This is a countercultural prayer in an age that mostly prays for more. What would it look like to genuinely pray this today….not for abundance, not even for comfort, but simply for “convenient” provision, and contentment with it?

Prayer: God, remove vanity and lies from me. Give me enough … no more, no less …and a content heart to receive it. Amen.
